Korg GEC 5 Lab System

The Korg Group Education Controller 5 (GEC5) represents the most advanced system in group instruction technology. Korg GEC5 Teacher Unit

Suitable for any teaching level and any combination of electronic instruments with or without computers, the GEC5 system allows teachers to interact with as many as 32 different student stations and up to 64 students, since each student station can accommodate two students!

Features:

Fully digital design throughout, featuring digital transfer of audio from each student station to the GEC5 Teacher Station unit with output for digital recording of any workstation in the system, and conventional analog inputs and outputs.
The Teacher Unit acts as a server for the lab so all settings and information is saved in the hardware making transitions from desktop to tablet seamless and easy. The Software control interface is available for multiple devices to fit your needs and budget.
Proprietary software is included and features customizable teacher and class setups, including individual teacher preferences and class set-ups displaying student names. New upload feature allows for easy and quick class creation. (Mac and Windows only.)
Split function allows two students to independently work on the same digital piano or keyboard allowing you to more effectively teach larger groups of students with fewer instruments. (Instrument must meet split functionality requirements.)

Korg GEC5 Student Interface

Each student station included in a Korg GEC5 Group Learning System will be equipped with a rock solid student interface box allowing each student to be a part of the group. The student interface box is built to last through many years of multiple classes in your lab. Connect as many as 32 individual stations to one GEC5 Teacher Unit.

SOFTWARE INTERFACE AND TABLET INTEGRATION

The Korg GEC5 lab system utilizes a custom designed software interface which was created to be a powerful and intuitive. Compatible with both Windows and Apple operating systems, you can easily work from your desktop and either an Android or iOS supported. Educators will be able to control the audio in the room by customizing classroom layouts, and “eavesdrop” on student’s progress, all with a few simple clicks or taps.

MULTIPLE MODES MEAN FLEXIBILITY

There are three main modes of GEC5 operation. Each of these can be selected within the software interface at the teacher’s station. They include:

Lecture Mode:
This mode is used to present material in a lecture format. All students hear the teacher’s microphone and instrument or computer allowing for a captive and quiet audience.

Practice Mode:
This mode is used when the students are working independently. Each student hears only his or her own instrument or computer. In Practice Mode, the teacher has the option of “eavesdropping” on the student and initiating 2 way communication with the student for individualized instruction.

Group Mode:
This mode is used when students are working together in groups (two or more student workstations in any conceivable configuration). Each student in a group can hear his or her own instrument as well as the instruments or computer and microphone of the other members of their group.
